Michael Wilkes Mackeral

We were in about 10 feet of water and the mackeral were every where.  We landed 21 and lost 6.  They ranged from 2 pounds to 6 pounds.  Anyone else run into them?

Boating in New Port Richey and Pasco by Boat

If you own a boat in Pasco County area, chances are good that you know the value of being able to trailer your boat, making use of the many great boating locations avaiable to you in and around places like Zephyrhills and New Port Richey.

If you trailer your boat, New Port Richey has some great state parks and Gulf water locations that you should be sure to check out. One great location is just to the south of…

Captain Jonas Eco-Friendly Boats: They Kinda Suck

When I went to a particular search engine (which I’m not going to plug by saying their name) and typed in “boats,” in one of the website, I saw a boat that looked pretty sweet. It had some nice little curves, a reasonably chic, “minimalist” design, and it had some great intentions behind it. Unfortunately, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Below, I’ll say some ways that, even with only a few minutes of thought related to this design, it basically sinks itself (figuratively…

Tiffany Choosing Saltwater Equipment

Living on the coast I see a lot of anglers make the same mistake, which is using their freshwater gear in the ocean. This is not something that you want to do for several reasons. Saltwater fishing is a lot different from fishing in freshwater and you need different types of equipment. The salt air and water environment will corrode and ruin freshwater equipment very quickly.

Therefore, if you’re use to fishing in one of the many lakes and rivers in Florida but want to try your hand at… Continue

Tiffany Choosing a Beach for Seashell Collecting

Nothing can make your seashell collecting better than finding the perfect beach to do it from. My kids and I love to go seashell collecting and then we often make crafts and activities out of the shells when we find them. Some we just like to polish up and keep them or give them as gifts to our friends and family who don’t live at the beach.

However, it seems good seashell picking beaches are getting harder and harder to find. This is especially true if you live near popular tourist… Continue

Tiffany When Swimming at the Beach Obey the Rules

Going swimming at the beach is fun, entertaining and good exercise so it’s an excellent way to stay in shape and have a great time all at the same time. But what many people fail to realize is that it can also be dangerous. There are times when the riptide can be so strong that not even an excellent swimmer can fight it. If you’re visiting Florida for a summer vacation, pay attention to any warnings or alerts that are put out.

One day I went with a couple of my friends to the beach… Continue

BoatPasco.com What is a Blog? Please read this before posting a new blog..

There appears to be some confusion on the difference between forum / discussions and blogs. In general, a forum/discussion is intended for two way conversations and/or questions and a blog can be thought of as more of a one way journal that can be commented on.

A blog (short for weblog) is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. They are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of… Continue
